Highly Pathogenic Avian Flu Influenza (HPAI) virus has been detected in Ontario, with a recently confirmed case detected in a backyard poultry flock in Picton, ON. Avian influenza is a reportable diseased under the Health of Animals Regulations. This means that all suspected ceases must be reported to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). You can reach the CFIA Avian Influenza Surveillance and Diagnostics line by calling 226-217-8022, available 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
